Highgate sits a short hop south-east of the studio. For most N6 clients, the Northern Line is the simplest route: East Finchley is one stop north of Highgate. Personal Strength Training, one stop north on the Northern Line

Personal Strength Training at Ultimate Strength is one to one, supervised, and brief: a single forty-five-minute session a week on MedX, Nautilus and Cybex equipment, following High Intensity Training (HIT) - a slow, controlled, one-to-one strength protocol, distinct from HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).

We do not have a Highgate branch. There is one studio, on East End Road in East Finchley. For most N6 clients it is one stop north on the Northern Line, then a seven-minute walk: simpler than parking in Highgate Village.

Who comes from N6

Highgate clients fall into the same broad groups as elsewhere across our catchment, with a local skew towards working professionals who value the brevity of a forty-five-minute weekly appointment and an older demographic well-served by the supervised format.

  • Adults in their 40s, 50s and 60s who want the training in their diary without giving up weekday evenings.
  • People managing lower back pain. Lower Back Rehabilitation on the MedX lumbar extension is the single most common reason people from Highgate first call.
  • Osteoporosis and bone-density work under guidance from a consultant or GP.
  • Recovery from hip, knee, shoulder or back surgery once the surgical team has cleared loading.
  • Active over-60s wanting a supervised strength base under whatever they already do - tennis, hiking, walking, club sport.

Many Highgate clients arrive on the recommendation of a local GP, osteopath or physiotherapist. Clinician recommendations are always welcome - mention them when you enquire.

What clients say

I have been training at Ultimate Strength for just under four years. I was new to the field of strength training when I joined but now I could not live without it. Through strength training I am not only stronger but I am more toned and lean. As a doctor I am aware that increasing your muscle mass increases your metabolic rate but never really believed it until it worked for me.

The route by car

From Highgate Village, head north on Archway Road, then turn right onto Aylmer Road and follow it east. Aylmer Road joins East End Road; turn left and the studio is a short distance further along on the right, marked by a small brass plate. Outside school-run peak hours, the drive is straightforward.

Nearby

Clients also come from Muswell Hill (N10) , East Finchley (N2) and Hampstead Garden Suburb (NW11) . The most-requested service is Lower Back Rehabilitation ; the training method page covers the protocol in detail.
