Personal Strength Training, a short drive from the Suburb

Personal Strength Training at Ultimate Strength is one to one, supervised, and brief: a single forty-five-minute session a week on MedX, Nautilus and Cybex equipment, following High Intensity Training (HIT) - a slow, controlled, one-to-one strength protocol, distinct from HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).

We do not have a Hampstead Garden Suburb branch. There is one studio, on East End Road in East Finchley. For most NW11 clients, the drive is shorter than the warm-up at a conventional gym, and parking is reliable in a way central Hampstead is not.

Who comes from NW11

A steady minority of our long-term clients live in Hampstead Garden Suburb. The most common reasons people from the Suburb make the short trip across the A1:

  • Lower Back Rehabilitation. The MedX lumbar extension at Ultimate Strength is the nearest piece of equipment of its kind for NW11 residents. See the Lower Back Rehabilitation page for what that service involves.
  • Strength training in their 60s, 70s and 80s. Supervised loading, in a quiet private studio, on machines calibrated to half-kilogram increments.
  • Osteoporosis and bone-density work under guidance from a consultant or GP.
  • Recovery from hip, knee, shoulder or back surgery once cleared by the surgical team.
  • A preference for one-to-one over class formats. No timetable, no shared floor, no other clients on the studio at the same time.

Several Suburb clients first arrived on the recommendation of a local osteopath, physiotherapist or GP. Clinician recommendations are always welcome - mention them when you enquire.

A long-standing Suburb client

In spite of an ongoing back problem for the past thirty years, strength training has benefitted me enormously. Yoram is a dedicated and inspiring trainer who instills confidence and the desire to improve and meet new challenges. Best of all, it is a form of training that has no age barrier, and can be continued in later life, keeping us toned and strong.
